Why is it important to address musculoskeletal conditions?
The 2018 Global Burden of Disease Study identifies musculoskeletal conditions as a leading cause of global morbidity. While not considered life-threatening, these conditions can place profound restrictions on an individuals' ability to participate in daily activities, employment and recreational activities (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2019).

Are tele-rehabilitation treatments as effective as in-person Physio?
A systematic review (Mani et al., 2017) found that telerehabilitation assessments demonstrated good concurrrent validity to address pain, swelling, range of motion, muscle strength, balance, gait and functional assessment.
Telehealth research in the field of musculoskeletal physiotherapy has univerally reported high levels of patient satisfaction, where satisfaction can also be significantly higher compared with those receiving in-person care (Cottrell et al., 2019).
Research to date has shown telehealth services to be cost and time effective and generally favouring telehealth over usual in-person care (Nelson et al., 2019).
